Hello guys,
Yesterday something really bad happened to my original Samsung battery. Everyday it’s getting bigger and bigger, now it’s big enough to create a gap between phone and back case, I have to protect it with tape. I’m afraid it gonna explode soon. In addition, battery withstands only two hours. I’m asking for your help, because now we can’t work at new releases. I don’t need a lot of money, only 15$ to buy a new battery. I hope you can help me.

Should your battery have swollen, stop using it immediately!!! It should be very close to exploding and is will probably cause serious burns if it happens near your body!
Marcin, even If developing does have a break then, please put the battery away! It is dangerous!!

Have you already put the battery out of the phone? It is not enough to tape it! You should stop using it RIGHT NOW! It’s stupid to continue like this!
At the moment I don’t have any money myself, so I’m sorry to say I can’t help you.. And I’m not 16/18 years old yet so I wouldn’t be able to donate anyway..
I hope that there are other people that ARE able to donate, because I love your work and don’t want you to stop with it because of that stupid battery

Sorry to hear that… I had this problem myself… Can anyone tell me why would this happen?Could it be because of the rom(I know that the stock cut the power once it is full…maybe this doesn’t??) And I can’t donate… I’m not 18, sorry
Cutting the power off is kernel related and all the kernels are based on stock one, so it’s not a ROM issue.
Please check your Paypal account.

I had the same problem in september with my galaxy ace and my battery was bigger… what’s more my autonomy was 3 hours when I saw that the battery had became so big.

it happened to my gio battery within a year of purchase so samsung gave me a new one for free, check your warranty papers maybe you can get one too.
Using custom ROMs you lose the warranty, I think
I had exactly the same problem. The batery was twice as thick and only 1 hour before empty.
Bought a new (2450mah!!!!) Battery at ebay for only 4,99 incl. Shipping.
Search ebay for “gio battery” and sort price. I ordered the gold colored one which is perfect.
I bought that battery at AliExpress, waiting for it

Great. And keep up the good work. I am using your roms since the beginning. They keep getting better and better. The last one is realy amazing!
I did notice longer battery life, but I installed this battery when I was using CM9, and my battery drain was ridiculous then. Now on RC2 it lasts pretty well. Only notice drain when using data. But I still get a full day out of it no worries. Not sure if No Frills CPU control helps or hinders. But my settings are Max: 844MHz, Min: 122MHz, Govenor: smartassv2, I/O scheduler: sio. I sent you link for batteris I bought in my donation notes… Thanks again for all your hard work, my phone is running perfect now on RC2. I don’t see how you can make it better, but if you can, I’m looking forward to it. Thanks again guys.

hahah that also happened to me
I searched on google, that happens a lot with the aces.. normally after a year of usage.
And that’s my cue to advise you all to revert to a stable ROM.
Usually, a battery issue like this one is software-driven, aka the ROM is probably damaging it with bad management.
Maclaw, I had the exact same problem! I had hoped that your rom wasn’t causing my battery issues. My battery, unfortunately, got quite a lot bigger than yours is in the photos. I managed to buy some cheap third party batteries from ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400386057165 work just as well as the original! I’ve heard rumours about the 2450mah ones though, they are apparently just 750mah. you are doing an absolutely awesome job on the gio/ace project! keep up the great work!

Just buy a Much Stable Battery from other Companys like Anker and Polarcell. ( Ace Batterys works on Gio too ! )

I bought an original one for my ace for 8$ 4 months ago, from one of the stores in town, and note that in my country all electronic products are way too overpriced:p

In Romania an original battery is 19,76$…I had the problem with the battery and buyed another one…

i can tell you the reason. Li ion batterys advantage its weight. its really low. The only problem with that if you don’t use or if it gets wet the Li is really oxidative so… it reagates with water (h2o) and its getting bigger and bigger.. because of the electrolise it makes h2 gas … thats why the first commentor said its dangerous. I hope you can get new one ! and countinoue your awsome work
